CSIC President , Eloisa del Pino, and the Government Delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, visited the Instituto de Optica on May 18, 2023. The pictures show the visit to the Labs of the Laser Processing Group (LPG). They happily enjoyed some experimental demonstrations of advanced materials production and processing with ultrashort laser pulses.
The sample that the visitors are watching above is a colorful metasurface (see image below) that has been fabricated with just a few nanometers of selected materials to create so called structural colors. This is part of the research carried out in the LPG within the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia funded by the European Union– NextGenerationEU».
